Pupil Premium

In 2011 the Government introduced pupil premium funding for schools, to help tackle the issue that those from ‘disadvantaged backgrounds’ were not performing as well as their peers, particularly in English and mathematics.

Schools receive additional funding for each child who has been eligible for free school meals (FSM) within the past six years; who is looked after/adopted or is from an armed forces family.

Here at St. Lawrence’s, we aim to use our pupil premium funding as effectively as possible to ensure that all pupils receive the best possible education and that disadvantaged pupils enjoy school; make as much progress and achieve as well as other pupils do. We do this by having the following aims:

To create an ethos of high attainment for all pupils;

1. To address any issues of behaviour and attendance robustly;
2. To ensure all pupils access high-quality teaching;
3. To meet the individual needs of pupils;
4. To deploy staff effectively;
5. To closely track pupil progress throughout the year groups;
6. To insist upon collective accountability for the achievement of pupils.
