About Us
St Lawrence CE Primary
St Lawrence Primary School, Church Stretton is a medium size school located in the heart of the beautiful Shropshire hills, serving a wide catchment area of pupils from surrounding villages. We have good links with our local community and nearby St Laurence’s Church (note the different spelling).
We have approximately 245 children on role in 8 mixed-year classes from 4 to 11 years and in September 2017 the private nursery on site became part of the school.
The school staff includes a healthy mixture of long-serving and recently appointed teachers, supported by a strong network of qualified teaching assistants in every class. An active and committed Governing Body and the enthusiastic ‘Friends’ (PTA) contribute significantly to the efficient running and success of the school.
We promote a friendly and inclusive environment for staff and pupils. Our forest school is growing and the swimming pool is used every afternoon! As well as promoting excellence in the National Curriculum, we offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities through staff-run clubs and external expertise. A variety of enrichment opportunities are arranged to support individual class topics.
We value and look after the needs of every child and strive to make sure that all of our pupils enjoy their time here. We have a Family Support Worker on our team who can help parents and pupils with a whole range of issues. Our school is a place to grow in friendship and learn new skills. When the children leave at the end of Year 6 we aim to send them off equipped for rest of their education and life in the big, wide world.
